Episode 3: Trey Priest “Like Your Phone”

Trey Priest is a multi-talented musician who makes art in his own way.

The guitarist - who performs solo, with the artist collective D. Cipher, and with the bands ONEFREQ and the NLR Experience - grabs influences from rock, blues, funk, hip-hop and beyond, and fuses them together to create his own unique sound.

His magnetic guitar playing and original songwriting display Priest’s obvious depth of musical talent, but perhaps just as importantly, he’s also a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

See Trey Priest perform his song “Like Your Phone” on Episode 3 of The District Sessions above.

Trey's episodes of The District Sessions also feature a handful of other artists who are making waves in Detroit’s music scene, including bassist RoDerrick Gaston, drummer Wayne Ramocan, and keyboardist Barry Chambliss II.

We’ve had the pleasure to collaborate with Trey on a variety of occasions through the years, and are always blown away by his playing and his humility.

Outside of COVID, Trey can often be found performing live at the Detroit Shipping Co., the Detroit City Distillery and at variety of festivals, both locally and nationally.

While we wait for music venues to begin opening their doors again, you can catch Trey Priest performing with D. Cipher as part of their virtual concert series and check out his YouTube channel here.
